Through collaboration with Prent Corporation, we created safe, sterile, and—vital to a busy operating room—easy-to-open recyclable packaging for the Cook Bakri Postpartum Balloon with Rapid Instillation Components.
The new package design makes it possible for more than one staff member to simultaneously begin using different parts of the device. This saves precious time and enables physicians to work more quickly to stop life-threatening postpartum hemorrhage. The compact, thermoformed package consists of a tray and a retainer. The retainer features ensure excellent sterilization, prevent lengthy tubing from tangling, and enable fast loading of the product. Because of its smaller size, the new packaging takes up less storage space, meeting the growing global demand for a reduced environmental footprint.
The Cook Bakri Postpartum Balloon with Rapid Instillation Components won a 2013 WorldStar Packaging Award. The annual WorldStar Awards honor excellence in packaging-design innovation worldwide.
