“Bill [Cook] would work there on the workbench with me. We’d try to work things out—to come up with the products that people suggested,” said Osborne.

Now
Here’s what Ryan Bernstein, engineer at Cook Biotech, has to say about innovating the industry today:

“Ideas still come in from a lot of sources, the biggest one being surgeons. Our work is very hands-on, with direct help from them.

Once we had to find a way to attach a bead to one of our products. We sat there, suturing, attaching different ways until we figured out how to attach it. That’s still what we do: We sit in a lab and hash out different ideas until we get it done.

The only difference is now we do a lot more documentation.”
