This year, Cook has added a new partnership with the American Urological Association to our education program offering. Together, we’re putting on a series of webinars through the Young Urologist Committee of the AUA. It’s easy to see—through our sponsorship of the Residents Bowl every year at the AUA’s annual meeting, our Vista® Education and Training programs, and our disease awareness efforts—that we place a high priority on education.
That education is necessary these days. The number of urologists is expected to drop almost 30 percent by 2025. We should collectively be working together to attract new physicians to the specialty and get them learning from expert urologists. We can ensure that in the future we’ll remain a strong—albeit, likely smaller—specialty by supporting programs like the Young Urologist webinar series.
Our first webinar will be early this summer. Dr. Sur from UCSD Medical Center and Dr. Pe from Scripps Mercy Surgical Pavilion in San Diego, California, will be discussing PCNL vs. URS for kidney stones that are larger than two centimeters. We’ll be presenting two additional webinars with physician hosts throughout the year. Stay tuned for details.
We’d love to hear your feedback on these programs or any of our other educational programs. Send us your thoughts at urology@cookmedical.com or on Twitter @CookUro.
